Check Out Joey Jordison's Very First Doodle of Slipknot Logo

“I drew that logo on my dad’s old desk in the house I grew up in. I had this little piece of paper and drew it with pen and ink. It stained the desk! I took it to band practice and they loved it. The next thing you know, almost half of the band got it tattooed – this was before we got signed.”

RIP

Thanks to Joey Jordison’s family you can now see the first Slipknot logo ever drawn. While fans know Jordison as the band’s original and greatest drummer, what many may not know is that he came up with both the band name and the logo. What began as a simple tribal S doodled on Joey’s father’s desk in pen and ink was chosen as the final logo during Slipknot’s early years. Speaking to Kerrang! in 2017, Jordison said:

Jordison passed away in 2021.
