Just days after celebrating the 25th anniversary of the release of their iconic debut masterpiece L.D. 50, Mudvayne have posted a bizarre new clip to their Instagram account. While only a few seconds long, it definitely makes a quick impact. The video consists of a blood-covered hand writing the word 'HURT' on a white background, while vocalist Chad Gray's distinct screams launch an audio assault on our eardrums. The caption simply reads "HURT #mudvayne", leaving viewers to play a guessing game of what was just witnessed.
It can safely be assumed that the guys from Illinois are on the verge of releasing new music together for the first time since 2010's self-titled album. Earlier this year in an interview with SiriusXM's Octane, Chad Gray confirmed that the quartet have been working on new material and that it's coming soon. Well, it has appeared that soon is fast approaching. Revolver Magazine even commented on the Instagram post, expressing excitement over the thought of new Mudvayne, and the band's official account liked the comment, all but confirming this is what they're teasing. Whether "HURT" is the name of a new single or a new album, it is clear that anticipation for new tunes has remained high since the band returned from their eleven year hiatus in 2021. Maybe they'll even debut it before they head out on their L.D. 50 anniversary tour that kicks off in the next couple of weeks.
