Poppy Tries To Cut Through The Noise With Teaser "the dogs are already biting"

Poppy meditates on modernity in the final lead-up to her new album 'Empty Hands.'

Leave it to Poppy to zag where others would zig. Less than two days out from the release of her seventh studio album Empty Hands, the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter has released one final(?) teaser. Not really music video per se, "the dogs are already biting," which is not on the album proper, features Poppy speaking atop an eerie synth strain and faint drums in various post-apocalyptic settings. Less George Miller, more Denis Villeneuve with a splash of Salvador Dali, the buildings and landscapes build on the aesthetic established in "Bruised Sky." Choice lines include:

"The future's not a promise, it's a pressure"

and

"I will not confuse noise for truth, or repetition for reality."

Another disquieting line:

"You change names, uniforms, platforms, but not behavior. The pattern survives the person. The horror is not coming, it's present tense."

It's unclear if she's referring to something personal or something larger and more systemic (AI, social media, government surveillance), but that's almost certainly intentional. Much to consider. Check out the full video below. Or just call Poppy on your phone to hear the latest snippet of Empty Hands.
