That Time When Daron Malakian Took A Nap Onstage Now Available To Watch Via Pinkpop Archive

"Sometimes all you can do is dream."

Guitarist Daron Malakian recently shared via Instagram a video of System of a Down’s second appearance on Pinkpop Festival, during which the band’s guitar rig stopped working at the end of the first song. He then took a nap on stage in front of thousands of people while the rest of the band kept playing without guitars while a tech was working on fixing the issue.

According to Malakian, he fell asleep and dreamt about his guitar getting fixed, he crowned the post with “sometimes, all you can do is dream.”

This comedy episode on System of a Down’s history took place in year 2002 while the band was touring their most recent album Toxicity, they opened the show with “Prison Song” and by the end of the song the band’s guitar rig stopped working. System of a Down were very professional way about it and didn’t stop playing, as evidenced by Malakian went crowd diving during "DDevil" while the technical team began working on fixing the issue with the guitars.

By the third song on the show, his guitar was still not working, and that’s when he went to sleep until the problem was fixed.

You can see the band’s entire performance on the Pinkpop Archive channel:
