The "Something Beautiful Project" Launches, Seeks To Provide Aid to Cameron Heacock

For Cameron.

American Head Charge is a band that those familiar with nu metal will surely recognize. Headed by Cameron Heacock, American Head Charge was founded in 1996 and in 2001, they would release "The War of Art" under American Recordings. That year would see them tour with Slayer and the next year with System of A Down and Slipknot.

Fast-forward almost 25 years and there's no limelight to be found in the life of Heacock. He's homeless and addicted to fentanyl, roaming the streets of MacArthur Park for nearly a decade.

Heacock's resurfacing comes in the form of an interview he did with Soft White Underbelly, a channel self-described as "interviews and portraits of the human condition by photographer Mark Laita". The American Head Charge frontman is in a dire state. Years of addiction have run their course, and Heacock is a frail visage of his former self.

Enter Holiday Kirk, CEO and founder of The Nu Metal Agenda. Kirk has started the Something Beautiful Project in an effort to locate and provide Heacock with a support network.

The Something Beautiful project has a tipline set up so those with knowledge on Heacock's whereabouts can contact Kirk, who lives in Downtown LA. At any moment, Kirk could be minutes away from Heacock and the goal is to use that to provide Heacock with assistance. At this point, donations have not been opened up, but when Heacock is located that may change. As it stands currently, the only plan is to find Heacock, give him a cell phone and a warm meal and to let him know that he isn't alone. There's an incredible outpouring of support from American Head Charge fans all over the world rallying for him, and soon enough we can find him. Nobody deserves to live like this. Here's to hoping he won't have to for much longer.
