Canadian hard rock heroes Three Days Grace performed their first show with their new dual-singer lineup featuring original vocalist Adam Gontier, with whom they have not played a full set in 12 years, and Matt Walst, formerly of My Darkest Days.
The show took place the night of Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Ford Idaho Center Arena in Nampa, Idaho. The group played in support of Disturbed on “The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour.”
Three Days Grace gave their most recent single “Mayday,” their first to feature both Gontier and Walst on vocals, its live debut at the performance, accompanied by hits including “Animal I Have Become,” “Break,” “The Mountain” and “I Hate Everything About You,” among others.
Walst explained to Billboard before the tour how the two vocalists were going about splitting parts for studio and live performances.
“A lot of the time in the studio, it just comes naturally. Who’s gonna sing what and where,” Walst said. “It’s been a lot of fun. We have each other’s backs and we cheer each other on when we do a good take. It’s pretty cool to be part of.”
In an interview with Nik Nocturnal, Gontier said the two’s voices had a natural chemistry.
“Our voices do blend really well together,” Gontier said. “And we've noticed it obviously way more now, with making the record and recording and all this stuff, that our voices really blend well. We're fortunate for that, that it's working out the way we had hoped.”
