On Wednesday, August 27th, a concertgoer was ejected for having a "twist" in the stands just as Korn opened their set at the first of a pair of shows at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium alongside fellow genre legends System Of A Down.
If you're into this sort of thing, you can watch the video below (nothing explicit, except a smack to the head).

Although the way this fellow chose to express his excitement was in no way peachy, it did get us here at the NMA thinking: what other nu metal would this guy be into? And so we, being the serious journalists we are, have compiled a list of ten or so tracks we think a fan like this would definitely have at the ready.
- "Fistful of Steel", by Rage Against The Machine
Look, I can almost hear your objection now. "Josh, Rage is technically a rap-rock band, proto nu metal at best"–but here's the thing. When Zack gets on the mic and drops bars like "Yes, it's time to flow/like the fluid in ya veins/If ya will it/I will spill it/And ya out just as quick as ya came", I feel confident our man would overlook the genre stretch and throw "Fistful..." in the queue.
- "Lotion", by Deftones
Another obvious inclusion, despite it being about nothing remotely similar. The track serves as a takedown of the music industry at the time, and those who sell out. However the involvement on this list comes from it's title. You don't need a PhD to know how it correlates.
- "The Hand That Feeds", by Nine Inch Nails
Now that we've established our man's relative genre agnosticism, I think we'd be crazy to assume he wouldn't have some NIN on the playlist. Trent Reznor is no stranger to overwhelming carnal urges, and "The Hand That Feeds," with its firm, driving rhythm, steady build, and clenched delivery, is exactly the kind of song he'd want accompanying his day-to-day adventures.
- "Butterfly", by Crazy Town
This track gets its spot not only for its on-the-nose innuendo and sexual nature, but because it's an appropriately douchey tune. And with a hook such as "Come, my lady/ come, come, my lady", omitting it from this list would be an absolute disservice to this man and everything he stroked for.
- "Edgecrusher", by Fear Factory
Like with a "Love Dump", it's not totally clear what an Edgecrusher is, so we must turn to the lyrics for clarity. Ok, it says here "Inflict strain upon the structure/Collapsing below my pressure"... Welp, beats me. Anyway, our man with a master plan would surely know what do with an addictive head-bobber like this one.
- "Lonely Day", by System Of A Down
It's hard to know a lot about this mysterious onanist, other than the obvious fact that he really knows how to enjoy seeing his band on the biggest stage possible– so we can't assume he only would listen to high-intensity nu metal bangers. Sometimes you just need to switch it up and slow things down a little to get the most out of your experience! Daron Malakian's songs tend to be a little overlooked amidst Serj's sturm-und-drang approach, but "Lonely Day" is a lovely little ballad about how hard things can get when you feel very alone. Who can relate?
- "One Step Closer", by Linkin Park
Sure, Chester can sometimes seem like he's overdoing it, the way he strains, his double-fisted grip practically choking the life out of the mic, but we're talking about an absolute all-timer here. And the lyrics "Everything you say to me/ takes me one step closer to the edge/ and I'm about to break" within this context are absolutely hilarious. "One Step Closer" is truly explosive, and any tru nu fan would be nuts not to have it right there with them, ready to go at any time.
- "Spit It Out", by Slipknot
Our boys in the 'Knot certainly know how to leave it all on the stage (or in the studio), as they do on this classic from their energetic self-titled effort. Featuring lines like "You got no pull, no power, no nothing" Cory Taylor and Co.'s extended middle finger to people who do their dirty work behind your back is just the thing to put on when you really need to blow off some steam.
- "Love Dump", by Static-X
The thing about Static-X is that they're all about the beat. With a rhythm gripping enough to chafe but steady enough to count on for a ride home, "Love Dump" is perfect for the nu metal speed demon who needs to keep the pace up.
- A.D.I.D.A.S.", by Korn
This should be pretty self-explanatory. With a chorus consisting of "All day I dream about sex, yes/ All day I dream about sex", putting it at number one was an absolute no brainer. I'm sure this song has passed through the mind and ears of our mystery man many a time while he lets his freak off the leash.
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
"Outside (feat. Fred Durst) [Family Values Live Version] ", by Aaron Lewis and Fred Durst
It's hard to say if our guy is a fan of Staind, or just, y'know, guilty by association. But one thing is certain–Aaron Lewis was outside, and so was he.
"Cigaro", by System of A Down
Sometimes a cigaro is just a "Cigaro", and sometimes it's an eggplant and you get arrested.
