Covers of classic rock staples are a tricky sell, especially when the genre and style of the covering artist varies so widely from the original material. Every now and again, one such bold move makes a mark, and nu-metalcore duo Darko US, comprised of Chelsea Grin's Tom Barber and Josh Miller, managed to do just that with their take on Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide."
The track builds and builds before hitting its death growl-heavy conclusion, but it works better than it has any right to. This surprising restraint from the duo, assisted by Northlane vocalist Marcus Bridge, leads to a compelling take on the acoustic classic. We're not exactly anticipating Stevie Nicks to come out and endorse it herself, but regardless, this lands on the better side of out-of-the-box renditions of songs on your local classic rock radio station.
