L.A. singer-songwriter DeathByRomy (born Romy Maxine Flores) is back with another track from her upcoming album Teenage Fever Dream. This latest single, entitled "LOLLIPOP," sees the genre-bending singer blending pop and trap with the help of New York rapper sensation Princess Nokia. Teenage Fever Dream, DeathByRomy's third studio album, arrives Friday, October 30th. Fans can pre-save the album here.
Sugar sweet, pack a punch like a guillotine / Get over your last girl and get into me / I love making a lover out of an enemy / If you wanna go to war, then we can make a scene
Switching out guitars for synths, "LOLLIPOP" is a notable change of pace after the electro-tinged rock of earlier singles like "2468" and "LONELIEST GIRL." Aimed squarely at the (strip) club rather than the mosh pit, the track gives DeathByRomy a chance to show off her skills as an MC. Almost as if in response to Princess Nokia's more explicit second verse (referencing peptides, poppers, and more), DeathByRomy kicks into high gear when she comes back in for the final verse, proving she's no tourist when it comes to this genre.
Coming up on October 17th, DeathByRomy will headline 2000 Ethereal Nights in Houston, Texas. Later in the month, she and Vana will co-headline a tour of Japan with special guests MAZE (メイズ). In November, DeathByRomy can be seen at the Orlando stop of Vans Warped Tour. Tickets are on sale now.
