Following the initial breakup of Coal Chamber in the early 2000s, frontman Dez Fafara channeled his rage into a new project in the groove/melodeath outfit DevilDriver. After calling off touring last year due to ongoing health issues, Fafara and DevilDriver have returned with a new single, an album coming in the dog days of summer (and not another sober September), and a North American tour to boot.
"Dig Your Own Grave" is a chaotic, heavy piece, accompanied by a motorcycle gang-themed music video directed by Mike Matsui.
According to Fafara:
“‘Dig Your Own Grave’ is about how one wrong decision, one wrong move can see your whole world turned upside down, effectively ‘digging’ your own grave… it’s that simple.
“It can also refer to how your decisions can fuck someone else. This is why there’s the line ‘six feet ain’t deep enough for you’, because only a deep, deep hole is fitting for what you’ve done or tried to do to others. Be careful when you choose to make decisions at midnight."
