Spiritbox's Would-Be Tourmates GEL Break Up, Cite Ex-Guitarist's "Heinous Acts"

Though the lyric may be “breaking up is hard to do,” when it turns out that one person involved is a massive piece of shit, things become a little easier to figure out. Such is the case for GEL, who were set to go on tour with Spiritbox beginning in May and with Volbeat in September. But in a statement released on the band’s socials, they are no more, citing some disturbing behavior by guitarist Anthony Webster. If the headline wasn’t enough indication, consider this a prompt to check and verify being in the right headspace to read about said heinous acts.

The laundry list of Webster’s offenses ranges from withholding and misappropriation of funds to erratic driving when the band went on the road leaking explicit photos of his bandmates on Reddit, though on the latter, the band ensures that “[Webster]’s truly terrible at covering up his tracks, so we have the receipts to prove that one.” Further, the band describe the ordeal as what it is: an “abusive relationship… and we saw it through to the very end until it simply couldn’t go on anymore.”

It is a shame to see a band come to such an end, though hopefully the remaining members can find peace and success without Webster and his baggage.

The full statement from the band reads as follows:
