HEALTH have released "THOUGHT LEADER" while on the "I Can't Hear You World Tour" with Pierce the Veil. The Video, which features visuals inspired by Cube, Tetsuo the Iron Man and The Matrix was animated by blender animator, Shackle Shotgun. In a post on their Instagram, the Lithuanian artist said,

Jokes aside it's an honor. Never thought a dipshit listening to TEARS on loop back in 2012 stuck in a terrible situation would get an opportunity to do something like this. Herculian effort to get this thing made in a short amount of time.

The sentiment of not having a way out, really rings true to the themes of the track. Let's be real, tech is worse now and AI slop is making life worse. The world is getting more anti-intellectual and anti-media literacy. There is so much AI slop on the internet that we can't even truly quantify the amount of it. Average folk cannot usually spot if a video is AI-generated. While some people might chalk this up song up as "phones bad," I don't think we can't not really say that anymore, as AI can cause people to be consumed in psychosis, and in extreme cases, even suicide. To that end, expressing that frustration that AI isn't being regulated is very real, hence The Matrix-like visuals and the references to Tetsuo: The Iron Man. That said, technology literally consuming you is just as bad as being a luddite and not interacting with it whatsoever. The fact that we live in a world where your mental health is increasingly more reliant on technology and external validation is frightening and concerning.
All in all, great song, but we should all touch grass sometimes. Log off. We'll still be here when you come back.
