Linkin Park Announce Collaboration Show With Mexican Wrestling Company CMLL

Linkin Park is going Lucha Libre this weekend.

For many wrestling fans, nu metal and professional wrestling go hand in hand since both saw their meteoric rise into the mainstream occur at the same time. They have been inextricably linked since the days of calling upon bands such as Limp Bizkit, Saliva, Our Lady Peace, Finger Eleven, and Disturbed to use their music as entrance theme songs. However, one band that hasn't had much of a connection to the wrestling world is Linkin Park - until now. A few months ago, WWE used "Up From The Bottom" in a highlights package from Saturday night of SummerSlam, seemingly the first time the company has used any material from Linkin Park. The closest prior being Fort Minor's "Remember the Name" in a video package for WrestleMania 32.

Now, Linkin Park have announced a collaboration show with Mexican wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) on Friday, November 14th, at legendary wrestling venue Arena México. The show takes place just one day shy of the one year anniversary of the release of their comeback album, From Zero. The main event features Atlantis Jr. and Neón on Team Linkin versus Volador Jr. and Hechicero consisting of Team Park. There will also be exclusive merchandise available for purchase at the show. The promotional posters feature artwork of the band members wearing luchador masks. Linkin Park will be playing in Mexico City on November 16th, so here's to hoping they will be involved in the CMLL show in some capacity, whether it's a live performance, appearance, or maybe even a run-in on a match.

This isn't the first time CMLL have done a crossover show, with the most recent one being back in September to promote the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Z‑A, which saw wrestlers such as Místico, Hechicero, Kira, and Soberano Jr. wear special ring gear inspired by Pokémon such as Hawlucha, Machamp, Togepi, and Gengar respectively.

So here's to hoping we'll see some Linkin Park inspired gear, or maybe even someone will come out dressed like it's 2002 again.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at Tickemaster Mexico.
