Linkin Park have released a vocals only A Capella version of their comeback record, From Zero, on all platforms. The absence of the instrumentation gives listeners a chance to hear the layered vocals of both founding member and vocalist Mike Shinoda and newest addition Emily Armstrong.
While a few news outlets have seemed to voice confusion on the release, this is nothing new for Linkin Park. Their 2014 album The Hunting Party had a similar release of both A Capella and instrumental versions of each of the songs. Living Things, the band's 2012 release had an A Capellas and instrumentals version of the full length as well. If these releases along with the From Zero A Capella versions wouldn't seem to be in high demand for listeners, it appears it's often for an alternate goal. Linkin Park songs have had a long history of remixes and re-imaginings, from bedroom producers to larger scale EDM and electronic genre artists.
Linkin Park has announced an epic global tour featuring special guests Queens Of The Stone Age, Spiritbox, AFI, Architects, grandson, Jean Dawson, JPEGMAFIA, and PVRIS on select dates. Tickets are now available.
