Filmmaker Matt Zane has stood his ground in regards to producing a documentary about the life of late Static-X frontman Wayne Static and his late wife, Tera Wray Static. It has been heavily objected by both families, and they have publicly expressed their disdain for the continuation of the project. Zane refuses to give up on fulfilling the wishes of his deceased friends, even after receiving a cease and desist from both family estates. Wray's former roommate and close friend has even showed her support for Zane's documentary.
Zane has posted to his Facebook account that he is determined to continue production of this documentary, despite his Indiegogo crowdfunding attempt failing to achieve its goal. Four people donated $100 each, meaning the campaign only achieved $400 of it's $2,000 goal. It was closed on January 19th, with none of the funds actually collected from the donors. Even in the fact of backlash from family and fans alike, Zane remains persistent. He is prepared to face any legal repercussions that may come with producing the project.

Despite the opposition from both families, Zane claims that he holds no animosity towards them and he hopes that they can remain open-minded. His intent is to showcase the lives Wayne Static and Tera Wray Static as they had wanted to all of those years ago, when the project idea was first born. Zane has stated that he will not include any unpublished songs from the Static-X frontman without permission from the estate.
Zane has posted a snippet to his X/Twitter account of an interview defending his determination to give a voice to the couple. He feels as if there is a false narrative that surrounds their relationship, and he wants to set the record straight as someone who was closely involved in both of their lives.
