The alt-rock mainstays Muse shocked us last month with “Unravelling,” a heavier song that utilized eight-string guitars, a first for the band. and recently they have released an alternative version for this song with a completely new arrangement and a very different feeling.
This new "Ghost Town Version" is a softer and more intimate approach that begins with an acoustic guitar and some ambience sounds that continue throughout the entire piece, while more layers of cinematic elements such as percussion and strings join in. It's complemented by a new vocal arrangement with Matt Bellamy’s characteristic emotion when it comes to softer songs. The mix is finished by a slide guitar and a very present and melodic bassline before blasting into one last chorus that combines all the previous elements presented to us in the song.
