HEALTH Are back with a new Game Soundtrack. This time for boss fight music in dark fantasy RPG Crimson Moon. Or Rather, what NME describes as “a gothic high renaissance action-adventure RPG built around intense, replayable missions... Players take on the role of a Nephilim, a ruthless human-angel hybrid forged to defend humanity, before being immersed in “a blood-soaked power fantasy.”
Developed by Probably Monsters (Nekome Nazi Hunter, IRE, and Storm Lancers). the Souls-like and roguelike Crimson Moon features music from HEALTH (Grand Theft Auto V, GTA Online, Max Payne 3), Ricky Armellino of Ice Nine Kills, Periphery’s Misha Mansoor and YouTube musician Jared Dines (Dickey Dines Show & Dickey Dines Magic).
HEALTH's track "Rite of Desolation" draws inspiration from several genres of games. This makes sense from perspective of John Famiglietti, aka Johnny Health, and his love from Dark Souls and similar games. His love even extends to a chest tattoo as a August 2023, making a Souls-like collaboration make sense. Speaking again with NME, Famiglietti recounted:
"The band were inspired by the “aesthetic palette” of Crimson Moon for ‘Rite Of Desolation’ but also took influence from Souls games and boss fights. “We personally love deep grooves during combat dating back to beat ‘em ups such as Streets Of Rage 2 or Golden Axe 2. It’s just very satisfying.”
Crimson Moon is available now for 19.99 USD for the standard edition, and 29.98 USD for the Deluxe Edition, which comes with the soundtrack. The game is available on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store.
HEALTH are set to embark on the CUM METAL WORLD TOUR later this month, which includes this weekend's DragonCon in Atlanta, GA, where they will be joined by hometown outfit The Callous Daoboys. The full list of dates and cities is as follows:
