Former Mr. Bungle Saxophonist Theobald Lengyel Charged With Murder

On Tuesday, January 2nd former Mr. Bungle saxophonist Theobald Lengyel was charged with the murder of his girlfriend and taken into custody by the Capitola police department.

Lengyel’s girlfriend, Alice Kamakaokalani Herrmann, was reported missing after being last seen in Santa Cruz on December 3rd. She was formally reported missing 9 days later with her vehicle discovered at Lengyel’s house an hour and 40 minutes away from her home in Capitola. According to local law enforcement, Lengyel has not cooperated with their investigation. Upon the formal announcement of Alice’s disappearance, Lengyel fled the area and drove to Portland, Oregon. Human remains have been located with potential connection to the case pending the identification process as of January 6, 2024.

Lengyel is a founding member of the experimental rock band Mr. Bungle, which formed in 1985. Lengyel contributed saxophone, clarinet, and keys to both live and studio recordings from 1985-1995 before departing to release his own music as Mylo Stone.
