New Coal Chamber Dropped?

Spoiler: we fucking wish.

With all of the legacy nu bands coming back and releasing new material, you could imagine my surprise in seeing a new Coal Chamber song on my Release Radar on Spotify. This was a knee-jerk reaction, as the band has been on medical hiatus due to singer Dez Fafara's ongoing health issues. Then you see the artwork, and well... picture is worth a thousand words.

The cover art for "Fire Grows Low" by this James Brandeburg, not Coal Chamber.

This artwork isn't nearly weird enough for a band like Coal Chamber, who have had cover art including skeletons, Dez's wife Anahstasia, and a dilapidated ice cream truck adorning their records. Then you scroll a little further and see that a James Brandeburg owns the copyright for the track, and that is not the name of any member of the band, past or present.

No one from the band has commented on the matter at time of publication, but it would appear that this is another case of misattribution, something that happens more than Spotify would like to admit. Given that the first few seconds of the song are a folksy acoustic guitar jangle, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is a cheeky mistake at best, and an AI slopshow at worst.

Stay tuned for more on this developing story.
