Ohio State Football Recreates Slipknot's 'All Hope Is Gone' Cover To Hype Their Upcoming Game Against Iowa

The game airs this Saturday on CBS.

Slipknot have been all over the news this week, with the Iowa outfit announcing a worldwide stadium tour for next year, though not without controversy. Hearing the nu metal stalwarts in a football stadium isn't all that farfetched of an idea, given their more radio-friendly fare like "Before I Forget," but seeing one of their album covers used in advertising for the sport is.

In preparation for taking on the Iowa Hawkeyes on their home turf this week, the Ohio State Buckeyes have posted a tribute to Iowa's greatest musical export, recreating the cover of Slipknot's 2008 album All Hope Is Gone in a not-so-subtle dig at their to-be opponents on the gridiron.

Some fans online are reading into this choice, knocking the Buckeyes for the choice of album cover tributes, given that they have an album fully called Iowa. Perhaps the field in the foreground was a way to find a bit of common ground between the two Big Ten teams. And yes, the font used for "Buckeyes" is atrocious, which might be the point, but it's still rough to look at, and feels a bit hamfisted, even for a parody.

In any case, Ohio State plays Iowa in Iowa City's Kinnich Stadium this Saturday, with coverage airing on CBS beginning at 3pm.
