PeelingFlesh Are Back In The Studio, May Even Record New Music

The Oklahoma slam band continue to take music seriously while not taking themselves too seriously

Oklahoma City's own slamming gangster groove originators PeelingFlesh just dropped an Instagram reel with in-studio footage of the band working on new music. The video, posted by guitarist Mychal Soto (PeelingFlesh, Slamnasium), opens with slo-mo footage of singer Damonteal Harris entering the studio over Miami XO's "Bazooka" slowed to a hilarious, gospel-like crawl followed by shots of drummer Joe Pelletier's rig over an equally ridiculous slowed-down version of George Thorogood & The Destroyers' "Bad to the Bone." Harris then informs Pelletier than his grandmother too was hit by a bazooka—and that he thinks about it every time he hits the hookah.

The rest of the video features footage of Pelletier and producer/engineer/mixer Dave Otero (Archspire, Cattle Decapitation, Khemmis) testing mics and drums. Not included: footage of the band recording any actual music. At one point, Soto turns the camera on himself to confesses:

"Day two: drum tracking. We ain't tracking shit."

Later, Soto can be heard addressing Otero as Dave Chappelle. Truly, there is not a serious bone in this band's collective body. While little else is known about the album, the band will set out on a series of tour throughout the spring and summer including a U.S. headlining tour with Missing Link, Kruelty, Bayway. They'll also make appearances at Inkcarceration Fest and the Texas iteration of Sick New World. Check out tour dates and the music video for "Midnight" below.
