Beginning with his 2003 film House of 1000 Corpses, Rob Zombie sought to make his mark on horror cinema, extending the love of grindhouse and schlock beyond his musical output with his solo work and White Zombie. Despite a tumultuous developement cycle, it spawned two sequels in what would become his "Firefly trilogy" in 2005's The Devil's Rejects and 2019's improbable finale 3 From Hell.
Now, the three films detailing the sadistic Firefly family will get a full 4K ultra high-definition treatment for the first time ever, in an eight-disc collection from the film's distributor Lionsgate. Set for release on October 13th, the box set is packed with the unrated versions of the latter two films, the 30 Days in Hell documentary which captured the filming of The Devil's Rejects, along with loads more behind-the-scenes featurettes and special features to satiate the most dire of gorehounds.
This will also mark the first time that House of 1000 Corpses will be available in 4K, making for a crisper, albeit grimier and more unsettling, picture quality and viewing experience. This follows on from the Insight Editions-published coffee table book which releases last year.
Also included is a photobook curated by the man himself, Rob Zombie, as well as art cards and artwork done by Vance Kelly.
The set is fetching a $79.99 price tag, with an anticipated street date of October 13th.
