They got the style, got the groove, and now Skindred have a number one album in the United Kingdom. The band's most recent LP You Got This eked out the win over Jessie Ware's Superbloom, earning the band their first top spot on the Official Vinyl Albums chart.
This is redemption for the band's last album Smile, which missed out on number one by a mere 150 copies.
In conversation with Planet Rock, the band offered the following gratitude:
“All of us in the band are absolutely blown away by the amazing reaction and support to our new album. We want to say thank you to everyone that came out this week to buy a copy, especially all of those in our extended family in the rock and metal communities.
To be the first Welsh Ragga Metal Punk band from Newport to hit Number 1 really is a special moment. It really is a Fairytale of Newport."
The band are making a run of festivals throughout the summer, before a handful of dates in both Australia and the UK.
