Taproot formed in 1997 and gained national attention with their Atlantic Records debut, GIFT, in 2000. They toured extensively, playing major festivals like Ozzfest and sharing the stage with heavy hitters like Slipknot, Disturbed, and Linkin Park.
Their sophomore album, Welcome, produced by Toby Wright, was widely praised and went on to sell over 500,000 copies, spawning hit singles like "Poem" and "Mine". In 2005, their album Blue-Sky Research featured collaborations with Billy Corgan, Nick Hexum, and Stephen Carpenter and again saw the band hit the road with fellow nu-metal acts like Chevelle and Flyleaf.
Taproot continued to release albums through 2012's The Episodes, but went on an indefinite hiatus in 2013. The band made a brief comeback last year for a handful of shows in Michigan before announcing their official return and plans for new music.
As well as the new single, Taproot has released a compilation titled The Best of Besides which filters down the massive 130 demos, b-sides and more that appeared on their last “Besides” release into a more manageable 18-tracks.
