In defiance of popular wisdom—and the conflicted feelings of one Justin Timberlake—renowned beatboxer Taras Stanin has put his spin on Limp Bizkit's "Eat You Alive," the much-maligned lead single from their much-maligned fourth album, Results May Vary. Past covers by Stanin include everything from The Weeknd and Bruno Mars to Nirvana and The White Stripes. He's even dipped his toes into nu metal with a cover of Deftones' classic "Change (In The House Of Flies)," but this is his first go-round with the 'The Bizkit.
The results? Not bad.
By building around the main guitar riff (probably the best element of the original), updating the drum beat, and jettisoning the track's more unfortunate lyrics, the Russian beatboxer refashions the 2004 track into something both listenable and not embarrassing. Readers may recall this very publication ranking "Eat You Alive" as one of the very worst nu metal songs of all time. Check out the full list here.
Most surprisingly, the Stanin's subtle production touches (swirling reverb and judicious echo on select vocal lines) are in keeping with the kind of studio flourishes Fred Durst and the boys have employed from day one. What does it say about the state of modern music that a beatbox cover in 2026 could easily pass for cutting edge production from 1999? Nothing good! Still, it's a testament to the band's oft-overlooked knack for locked-in groove and nu metal as a genre that even bottom-tier offerings can so easily get heads nodding decades later.
Tonight, October 12th, in Nashville, Tennessee, Limp Bizkit will be performing their second of two nights at The Truth. And in December, the band will perform in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Soweto, South Africa. And starting next May, the band will join Avatar supporting Metallica on their M72 World Tour.
