Poppy has begun her “They’re All Around Us” tour in support of her most recent album Negative Spaces, and to kick things off, she came to Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the second time in the space of a couple of months. This time, rather than support Knocked Loose on their Grammy-nominated “Suffocate,” she played her own song “The Cost of Giving Up,” once again bringing metal performances to the small screen.
Wearing a white outfit, potentially of the church variety, Poppy stood and delivered on a platform surrounded by flowers, with her backing band clad in black behind her. While we didn’t get pig squeals like in the Knocked Loose performance on Thanksgiving Eve, Poppy didn’t compromise in her vocal delivery, letting loose screams that sounded clean and smooth, bearing the torch for heavy music in the mainstream as only she can.

Clearly those who rallied against Poppy’s previous appearance on late night television were unsuccessful, as the red-gloved post-genre powerhouse kicked off her concert year in grand fashion.
