Sleep Token Score Their Biggest Hit Yet With "Caramel"

Sticky-sweet success for the English masked metal experimentalists.

Sleep Token are, for better or worse, heavy music’s flag-bearers, while simultaneously being that band you know from TikTok that might be metal but you still aren’t really sure. Their fourth album Even in Arcadia is due out on May 9th, and the first single “Emergence” made quite the impact, earning the band their first number one on the UK Rock charts, while also peaking at number 57 on the Billboard US Mainstream Rock chart. That track also surpassed the viral hit “The Summoning,” which peaked at number 14 on the UK Rock chart.

But their latest hit “Caramel,” which is a callout to those who have been disrespectful to the band’s request for anonymity, has taken Vessel and his Roman numeral-bearing cohorts even higher, as it has scored Sleep Token their second number one in the UK in the song’s first week out. It also scored number one for the weekend of April 4th-6th for Spotify’s Top Songs: Global Debut chart.

Critics of the band have labeled them the Imagine Dragons of metal, but frankly, call us when the guys behind “Radioactive” and that song from Arcane manage a reggaeton beat and blast beats in the same song and it all makes sense, in defiance of every music god out there. And that’s before we get into the rapid-fire yet silky-smooth delivery of the verses by Vessel.

In case you haven’t been initiated, here is the hit single “Caramel”:
