On this episode of broken clocks being right, Disturbed frontman David Draiman has filed a lawsuit against his landlord. The singer alleges that the condition of the house he is renting was not properly represented, as the Coral Gables, FL residence contained leaks and mold. These things would obviously make one get down with the sickness (ooh ah ah ah), but it doesn’t just stop there.
In a report by Law360 which was referenced by The PRP, the finer points are broken down, and the following information may make readers feel broke and/or down. Draiman is asking for his $37,000 security deposit back, accusing the landlord of "engaging in fraudulent misrepresentation, unjust enrichment, and negligence." The suit spells out the risk factors to Draiman that would come with living in an alleged dump, citing that "the uninhabitability and mold concerns, among others, resulted in impacts to plaintiff's singing career, recording and studio time with medical concerns."
By no means should Draiman be subjected to living in a place that could lead to another way to die, but 37 Gs for a security deposit, not to mention a monthly payment of $18,500, is blatant avarice on the part of the landlord. That said, those banners that burned inside the fire in the band’s native Chicago did give some fans a reason to fight.
Disturbed are currently on tour to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their debut album The Sickness, though Draiman be droppin’ plates on this landlord’s ass in the courtroom before long.
