Atlanta's genre-clashers The Callous Daoboys have dropped the second single from their as-yet-untitled fourth studio album in "Watching Us Kiss." It follows on from "Gigantic Parasitic Tongue," which dropped back in April of this year. As expected, the new track is chaotic and yet so compelling, with a surreal and strange music video to boot. A nuclear family sitting down for dinner with our intrepid Daoboys unleashing their mathcore mayhem all over the paneled abode?
Extra points for the more-prominent than usual violin parts from Amber Christman, adding a degree of unease to everything. Yes, the whole band plays like the rent is due, as they are wont to do, but hearing an instrument not usually present in heavy music get to shine is a special treat that is so wholly Daoboys, it hurts. The whole affair will allow you to, as frontman Carson Pace commands during one verse, "make up your fucking mind." If ever there were a time to get into this sextet, it was yesterday, but the second-best time is right the fuck now.
