ALT BLK ERA have just announced their new EP, Our World, along with a headlining UK tour. Led by sisters Nyrobi and Chaya Becket-Messam, the Nottingham-based group began in 2020 during the COVID pandemic. In 2022, the group released their first original track, "Slowly Die: Solar," followed by their debut EP, Freak Show, the following year. Since then, they've featured on Delilah Bon's single "Witch," been hand-picked to open for Tom Morello, played Glastonbury, and been nominated for Best UK Breakthrough Act at the Heavy Music Awards and Best Alternative Music Act at the MOBOs.
The first single from the Our World, "Tissues," drops February 4th. Chaya explains how the track delves further into her struggles with chronic fatigue syndrome:
After opening up about my hidden disability in songs like "Straight To Heart" and "Come On Outside," it feels like there’s no topic we should be scared of singing about.
She continues:
With all that’s going on in the world, it was good to talk about feeling overwhelmed with emotions – over a hyper/pop rock beat. The juxtaposition of it almost feels therapeutic.
In regard to the duo's musical growth, Nyrobi adds:
We’re having so much fun exploring our sound, and it feels like we’re really stepping into ourselves with every song. We’re so excited for the headline tour! We have so many things planned, and it’s going to be next-level insane. After touring with Pendulum, we feel more confident onstage. It’s definitely something to look forward to, for us and for our audience.
In addition to the aforementioned UK tour, ALT BLK ERA were recently added to the lineup for Rock For People 2026. The Czech festival's headliners include Gorillaz, Limp Bizkit, Bring Me The Horizon, and Halsey along with sets from BABYMETAL, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Papa Roach, Tom Morello, and more.
