Bloodywood are on the forefront of international metal acts taking the genre by storm. Adding Indian folk instruments, rapping, and detuned guitars together means the Desi boys have, to borrow a line from the late Carl Weathers, got a stew going. The band have yet to announce the follow-up to their second album Rakshak, though they did put out two singles in 2024, the bouncy and bombastic “Nu Delhi” and the powerful BABYMETAL collab “Bekhauf.”

The former was released in mid-October, with an accompanying music video and a subsequent pop-up video. Now the track has a lyric video, with the Hindi lyrics in the pre-chorus and chorus translated into English, albeit with some minor alterations from the translations offered in the original music video. For example, around the three-minute mark of the four-and-a-half minute track, the line as translated in the original music video reads “but if you fuck around, you won’t be found.” In the new lyric video, the line is translated to “but cross us and we’ll strike back.”

Further, the translation offered on Genius has the line written as “but mess around and you’ll find your face disfigured.” Yes, all three translations can be distilled down to “FAFO,” but the lack of an official word on the matter is surprising. It may only be of interest to the linguists and polyglots among the fans, but at least music is a universal language that we can all understand.

As mentioned previously, there is no word yet on the band’s next album, which will be their first as a part of the Fearless Records family, but Bloodywood are going on their Return of the Singh tour next month in Europe, kicking off in Copenhagen, Denmark on February 21st. The band will also play three dates in Japan in May of this year.
