Casey Chaos, born Karim George Chmielinski, has passed away at the age of 59, Blabbermouth confirms.
Brian Perera, CEO of Cleopatra Records, writes on Instagram: "Casey wasn’t just an extraordinary musician—he truly lived and breathed the lifestyle."
Former Amen bassist John Fahnestock wrote: "With a heavy heart and a tear in my eye I must announce that we lost another legend today.
Amen released their self-titled album through Ross Robinson's I Am recording label and Roadrunner, with Robinson on production duties. In January of this year we included the record in our 100 Greatest Nu Metal Albums list. The band acquired a cult following in the UK and Virgin Records picked the band up for their third album We Have Come for Your Parents which produced three top 10 UK Rock singles.
In 2006 Chaos received a Grammy Award for his songwriting contributions to System of a Down's "B.Y.O.B." Most recently Chaos was said to be working on Amen's fourth studio album but no info on this venture has emerged since 2019.
