DED Release Another New Song & Music Video Ahead of Upcoming Album 'Resent'

The quartet are gearing up for their third studio album to drop.

Arizona's own nu metal act DED found early success with the song "Anti-Everything" from their debut album Mis-An-Thrope in 2017, as it was premiered on Sirius XM's Octane station and received regular rotation. Their second studio album, School of Thought, was released on October 15th, 2021.

Now, the band is scheduled to release their third studio album, Resent, later this month on September 19th. Fans have already been treated to three songs from this upcoming record: "Rockstar" which came out last year in 2024, "Until I Die" featuring Chris Motionless, and "Eraser". Now the band have dropped what can be assumed to be the last single until the full album is available, "Purpose: Be Myself", with an accompanying music video.

Vocalist Joe Cotela reveals that this was the last track that was put together for the record, due to wanting to switch things up and present something different and fresh. Once the music had been presented, the lyrics flowed naturally and the creation of the song went very smoothly. The product became "Purpose: Be Myself" where his clean vocals are on full display, and the instruments provide a catchy beat that makes you want to bang your head. The lyrics are pretty straightforward: your purpose in life is to do what makes you happy.

The recording process for Resent was not an easy one, but the band didn't let any obstacles break them. Behind the scenes, the business aspect was rocky, but DED stuck through it and took control of the problem on their own. They made their own recording studio, wrote numerous songs, engineered, and produced the whole damn thing by themselves with help for the mixing and mastering coming from their friends Zach Jones and KJ Strock. The years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears that went into the making of Resent shows DED in their most dedicated and true form.

The upcoming album also features guest vocals from Chad Gray of Mudvayne and Danny Leal of Upon a Burning Body. Taking from a myriad of influences including nu metal, hardcore, electronic, and hip-hop, Resent promises to deliver something for everybody's tastes. If you haven't listened to DED before, now is the time to get onboard.

Resent is out on September 19th via UNFD.
