At WWF Unforgiven 2000, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin made his return to the company after a storyline car accident some months prior at the 1999 Survivor Series. The "Texas Rattlesnake" did not enter to his Jim Johnston-penned theme “I Won’t Do What You Tell Me,” which itself took inspiration from the main riff of Rage Against the Machine’s “Bulls on Parade.” Instead, Austin stormed the ring to a new song by a then-debuting Disturbed entitled “Glass Shatters.” The song took Johnston’s version of the iconic theme and gave it a nu metal twist, with sections dripping with wah-wah pedaled guitars and the band’s own lyrics, the latter a new addition to the originally-instrumental theme tune.
While the song would be played live on the October 1, 2000 edition of Sunday Night Heat and later be released on the Forceable Entry compilation in 2002, the song has not been available on streaming services, presumably due to copyright and licensing issues. As the band is approaching 25 years since their debut album The Sickness, regarded as a watershed release for nu metal, Disturbed have given the song an updated mix, complete with Stone Cold’s intro from the aforementioned Heat performance.
