Kenny Omega Cued Up "Bodies" During AEW's Anarchy in the Arena

"Play that shit!" commanded the co-founder and reigning AEW International Champion.

The shit absolutely hit the fan this past Sunday at AEW's flagship PPV event Double or Nothing. This year's installment of the chaotic Anarchy in the Arena match saw The Death Riders (AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, and Marina Shafir) team with The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) to take on Swerve Strickland, AEW International Champion Kenny Omega, AEW World Trios Champions The Opps (Samoa Joe, Katsuyori Shibata, and Powerhouse Hobbs), and Willow Nightingale in a glorious symphony of violence.

Thumbtacks, exploding tables, staple guns, and more were used during the hardcore hallelujah, but one particular moment proved to be very nu indeed. For the uninitiated, the running gag with the stipulation is that during the match, which sees the combatants brawling literally all over the arena, there's typically someone's theme music playing over the PA system, be it X's cover of "Wild Thing" (which was previously Jon Moxley's entrance theme) or Europe's "The Final Countdown" (which was previously Bryan Danielson's theme).

This year, Kenny Omega took to the microphone for, in his words, "a little 2000s alternative rock music," before commanding the guys in the truck to "play that shit," before Drowning Pool's iconic "Bodies" blasted throughout the Desert Diamond Arena in Phoenix, AZ. Considering that the song was the soundtrack for the Invasion-era ECW, and the Anarchy in the Arena is a hardcore match full of blood and fire, "Bodies" is a fitting soundtrack for this year's six-on-six shitshow.

Check out a clip from the event, as well as an audience member-filmed clip of the crowd singing along, below.
