Above all other covers in the nu world, Limp Bizkit's version of The Who's ballad "Behind Blue Eyes" is perhaps the most divisive. Seeing the red-capped Fred Durst play crooner is certainly one performance of all time, but you can't blame the dude for trying. Further, he had Wes Borland, potentially the greatest nu metal guitarist of all time, to back him up on the track, so the proverbial college try was, in fact, made.
Perhaps if virtuoso guitarist Luca Stricagnoli were involved those twenty-odd years go, things might be different, as the Italian employs his Reverse Triple Neck guitar, an instrument of his own innovation, to provide not just the legendary riff, but the vocal melody on a capoed seven-string which comprises the second of the three necks.
The third one is out of service, as is written on it in the video, so while the persona's dreams aren't as empty as their conscience seems to be, that neck is pretty empty in terms of strings. But we digress.
