Mudvayne Sign With Alchemy Recordings, Confirm That New Album Is In The Works

The earliest demos of the album date back to the fall of 2023.

After announcing a headlining tour alongside Static-X and Vended earlier this month, as well as their appearance at Welcome to Rockville this past weekend, Mudvayne have confirmed that their long-awaited sixth studio album is in progress, and the band have a new label. Alchemy Recordings, who currently have acts such as Chevelle and Staind on their roster and are partnered with Rise Records, have picked up the prog-leaning nu metallers, as revealed by label co-founder and tour organizer extraordinaire Danny Wimmer on Instagram.

During an interview at Welcome to Rockville with SiriusXM Octane presenter Shannon Gunz, singer Chad Gray shared that “we've got new shit coming, so get ready, motherfuckers. It's coming.” This will be the band's first new music since their 2009 self-titled album, which boasted the single “Scream with Me” but did not get a supporting tour. The band split for over a decade shortly after its release.

For those who are looking for something more akin to the band's debut album L.D. 50, don't hold your breath. Gray stated in an interview last year with The Jesea Lee Show that “nothing inside of me wants to be the Mudvayne of L.D. 50.” He goes on to call it a “very gratuitous, individual workshop, and we put all four pieces together and called it an album. As first broken by Heavy in 2023, the band has been working on new material, and they've kept it close to the chest for the most part. The aforementioned Gunz, who is Gray's wife, reported that she “was literally bawling on the couch” when she heard the initial rough mixes of the new material.

With the band's next US tour taking place this fall, odds are news of the as-yet-unnamed LP should break sooner rather than later, and it sounds like they are, to borrow a line from their song, fucking determined to have us hear it.
