Both members of Industrial project, A Place to Kill confirmed new music speaking with Tucson rock station, 102.1 KFMA. For their second release, the duo of Richard Patrick (Filter) and Jim Louvau is more focused on heavy edm. This direction is going to be present not only in the duo's newer music, but also in their upcoming performances.
Patrick describes the process and the change in approach, stating:
"I comes more from, like, if you see a kid like Scarlxrd or something, or Deadmau5 or something, it's more of an EDM approach towards a live scenario. So it'd be just the two of us. It wouldn't have a lot of people on stage — no dancers or anything crazy. Just us bringing it. I could see us on festivals, for sure. I could see us coming out in festivals, for sure. Yeah."
However, fans might have a short wait for performances, maybe a few years. Frontman, Richard Patrick stated, the duo might open up for his other band Filter.
"I could see something within the next couple of years, for sure. Something would be cool to do. FILTER goes out, maybe A PLACE TO KILL opens up for FILTER. There's a few ideas swimming around out there that we like."
The duo has plans for more physical releases. Both EPs are being planned to be played in an album format eventually. The duo intends to not drop the ep all at once, but waterfall the singles one by one. As Patrick reveals:
"Like, if we release a vinyl, it'd be the first EP on one side, the second EP on the other side. Make a CD that's a collection of both works. Cause there's different ways you can release music now. And for us, it was, like, let's just get the first EP out in its entirety, because I wanted everyone to hear it. Because when I hear bands that have released new singles, I'm, like, Oh, I can't wait to hear the record. And then they're, like, Well, come back in a week, and we'll release another song. I just wanted to hear something immediately. Like, I like this single. What's the rest of the record like? What's the rest of it? So we put out the full EP. But the second EP is gonna come out in singles. It's not gonna be released all at once. It's gonna be released later, over the next couple of months, one single after another, kind of thing. But we have to make videos for it and stuff like that, so we're gonna focus on videos for the next EP. Cause we're a very multidimensional, media-type situation where we really wanna have content out there for people to find and scroll through on Insta or whatever, YouTube or whatever. But, yeah, there's a lot of stuff coming up in the next couple of months."
While the band is saying this new EP is in of a couple of months, an exact date for this sophomore release has yet to be named.
