A somber and reserved Corey Taylor took to Instagram yesterday to issue a statement following the cancelation of his solo run of shows and an explanation for why the Southeast Asia dates will go ahead as planned:
In the 2 minute 30 second video the 50 year old Slipknot frontman claims he suffered a complete breakdown of "boundaries, mental health, ego, entitlement" culminating ina "ver real, very near relapse" while also explaining his decision to move ahead with the Southeast Asia shows as "literally" four shows. "I'm just doing the best for me right now, and it's it's it's a long road," Taylor summarized, "And I don't know what's at the end of it, but I look forward to it."
Taylor has a documented history of drug and alcohol abuse but has been sober for over a decade. Recently Taylor along with the rest of Slipknot has been embroiled in controversy after firing longtime drummer Jay Weinberg and being sued by the estate of the late Joey Jordison.
