With each new album release comes a costume change for the majority of Slipknot members, and frontman Corey Taylor has once again revamped his onstage look. Over the weekend in South America, Taylor revealed a super scary new twist to his mask—glowing red eyes.
Earlier this year, the band introduced their latest set of masks, echoing the designs from their iconic 1999 self-titled album era. For #8, this meant returning to a leather-like, dreadlocked mask that fans have come to associate with his persona.
However, Taylor keeps coming up with new ways to make sure the audience stays fixated on him. At Knotfest Brasil in São Paulo on Saturday (October 19th), the singer gazed into the crowd with vivid red LED lights shining through the eye sockets of his mask. His wife, Alicia, took to X to explain the update. She told a fan that Corey is using “clear round plastic” inserts with built-in red lights, resembling “flexible plastic glasses,” similar to the suction cups used for shower caddies.
Clear round plastic with red lights inside that are placed on the inside part of the eye opening of the mask - you’re close, think like flexible plastic glasses or almost like those suctions for a shower caddy https://t.co/2t5EjKs6mU

While Taylor hasn’t yet revealed where this latest version ranks among his numerous mask designs, he did mention in a 2022 Reddit AMA that he was particularly fond of the detailed, Nightbreed-inspired mask he wore during Slipknot’s 2021 tour.
Slipknot’s South American tour continues tonight (October 23rd) in Asunción, Paraguay, and will span Europe and Australia through 2025.
