New Jersey nu rapcore artist Dizasterpiece has released ZZONEBOUND [QRX4-Notion], their followup to 2021’s Regression Toward the Mean. Alongside a growing wave of artists such as Texas’ Notions and UnityTX, whose blend of hip hop and nu metal shifts the center of gravity further into the beat zone than we’ve seen since the rap rock greats of the 90s, the record showcases the band’s range, with tracks moving through Beasties-style hip hop to melodic pop punk (“More”) and clubby breakbeats to metalcore (“Zzonebound”), all while delivering the melodic choruses this kind of crossover genre mashing is designed to deliver. Second single and album highlight “Nosferatu” features the record’s stickiest chorus, which manages to anchor the rap verses and deathcore breakdowns with an open-armed refrain that lingers after the track fades.

“This is my favorite record I’ve made,” says main man Diz, who fronts the band. “I just really wanted to bring back a lot of my roots with this record. I play guitar, sing and scream on every track, rather than just rap over beats.”

Dizasterpiece will be on tour around the US in August, with more dates to be announced.
