Drowning Pool’s South American Tour Cancellation Reflects More Than Just Logistics

While the band cited timing and logistical issues behind the canceled tour, the emotional legacy of Dave Williams continues to shape how many longtime fans connect with Drowning Pool today.

Following the recent cancellation of Drowning Pool’s Latin American tour just days ago, the band has finally spoken publicly after multiple reports regarding the reason behind the cancellation began circulating online.

On May 15th, vocalist Ryan McCombs and guitarist C.J. Pierce appeared on Teaser Talk, Hollie Nicole’s YouTube special, to discuss touring and address the canceled South American dates.

“Well, we were gonna be doing South America. That just got put on hold yesterday,” said Pierce. “We were looking forward to going. Just the timing with it — I'm hoping that that comes back up towards the end of the year, 'cause that's supposed to be a week and a half from now, and all the logistics weren't put together for us to get there in time.”

While the strongest rumors pointed toward low ticket sales — a narrative amplified by Instagram pages such as Rock a la Vena Chile — the band indicated the issue was far more complicated than that. According to their statements, bureaucracy, timing, and logistics ultimately prevented the dates from moving forward.

Still, nostalgia also remains an impossible factor to ignore. Since the tragic death of original vocalist Dave Williams in 2002, many fans who grew up with the band following the release of Sinner in 2001 feel that seeing Drowning Pool live simply has never felt the same.

“There's a lot of red tape and stuff like that. And just we didn't meet the deadline for it. So I'm hoping to go back. I love South America. We really wanna play there. I wanna go so bad. But yeah, that's gonna be pushed off,” Pierce continued.

Meanwhile, South American promoters handling the tour dates across different countries confirmed refunds for ticket holders following the cancellation, while the possibility of rescheduling the run for later this year reportedly remains on the table.

The cancellation of the Latin American tour also arrives in the middle of the 25th anniversary celebration of “Bodies,” the breakout single from Sinner that launched the band into mainstream recognition and became one of nu metal’s defining anthems, currently surpassing 700 million streams on Spotify.

For now, fans can only wait for further updates regarding a potential rescheduled South American tour from Drowning Pool, which could reportedly take place toward the end of 2026.
