Fear Factory's Dino Cazares Teases New Album's Guitar Tunings

Last fall, Fear Factory confirmed that they have finished their upcoming studio album, which will be their first with new vocalist Milo Silvestri. As some of the leaders of the industrial metal movement of the early Nineties, much speculation about the guitar tunings used by Dino Cazares has been had throughout the years, but in a recent tweet, the man himself clears the air.

In a response to a tweet claiming that Cazares used drop tunings on Brujeria's studio albums, not on Fear Factory's, he dissuades the rumor, asserting that "I've never played any drop tunings on any record." He goes on to break down the tunings that he has used throughout the last three decades and change, between his seven- and eight-string guitars. In addition, he goes on to claim that only three songs on the as-yet-unnamed Fear Factory album are played on seven strings, with the rest using eight-string guitars.

According to Cazares:

"I’ve never played any drop tunings on any record. B ,A ,G standard on a 7 string guitar.
F# , F , E standard on a 8 string.
This new record there’s 3 full songs on a 7 string in A standard. And the rest are 8 string E standard"

While no release date has been unveiled for the upcoming LP, Fear Factory will be plenty busy this year, with a bevy of tours already on tap as soon as next month:
