Lajon Witherspoon Talks 'Seasons' on Youtube's 'That Fuzzing Rock Show'

In a recent conversation with That Fuzzing Rock Show, Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon reflected on the band's decision to commemorate the 21st anniversary of their 2003 album Seasons with a U.S. tour in late 2024. The band’s fourth studio release and final album with TVT Records is notable for spawning the top 10 rock single "Enemy" and featuring "Face to Face," a track Sevendust has closed many live shows with. Produced by glam rocker Butch Walker, Seasons stands out for its melodic approach to heaviness. While Sevendust had obviously explored melody before, sing-along choruses became more prominent this time.

Although drummer Morgan Rose has hinted that he was never the biggest fan of the album, Witherspoon now highlights the album as a defining moment for the band creatively and professionally. “I felt like we weren't afraid to do what we wanted to do as a band at that time in our career, if that makes sense. Everyone wanted us to be, 'Oh, you guys gotta be heavy and you gotta just wreck everything.' It was, like, we matured enough to feel that our people, our family that have grown with us are letting us mature as musicians. And I felt like that was a milestone in our career for us."

Seasons also carries emotional weight for Sevendust. The project was dedicated to the memories of Drowning Pool's original singer Dave Williams and Lajon's younger brother Reginald Witherspoon. It was also the last Sevendust album with guitarist Clint Lowery before his four-year hiatus from the band.
