Linkin Park's "Heavy Is the Crown" Used As Offical Theme For WWE Royal Rumble

Nu metal being used in conjunction with wrestling again, we are so back.

On last night's edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, it was revealed that the official theme song for the upcoming Royal Rumble is "Heavy Is the Crown" by Linkin Park. This song was the second single off of their comeback album, 2024's From Zero, and has been featured in other media such as League of Legends and Arcane.

It is honestly surprising that WWE had not previously used any Linkin Park song as a theme song for a PPV event until now. Linkin Park is one of the most commercially successful nu metal bands ever, and their rise in popularity coincided with that of professional wrestling in the mainstream. WWE and nu metal have a long history together, whether that stems from wrestler's entrance songs, to live performances, to using nu metal tracks as event theme songs. The closest we had gotten was "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor, Mike Shinoda's side project, being used in a WrestleMania 32 video package, as well as "Up From The Bottom" being featured in a highlights package for SummerSlam 2025.

However, Linkin Park and wrestling crossed over last November in a different wrestling company. Mexico's CMLL hosted a show that was cross promoted with Linkin Park before they played in Mexico City a few days later. There was merch of the band in luchador masks, as well as the main event being Team Linkin vs. Team Park.

Here's to hoping we see more Linkin Park in the pro wrestling sphere in the near future.

WWE Royal Rumble airs on Saturday, January 31st on ESPN Unlimited in the United States and Netflix internationally. This year's event, the thirty-ninth annual Royal Rumble will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
