Orchestral darkwave band Winterlvst, fronted by Kittie roarer Morgan Lander, is a project ten years in the making. Their debut now comes in the form of a new single and upcoming album.

“Ten years in the shadows, now come to light as ‘Awakening’ arrives April 3, 2026,” the band stated on social media. Awakening is the title of Winterlvst’s debut album with cover art by Hans Trasid. Currently available is the album’s lead single, “Broken Lines.”

In the band’s social media press for the song, they refer to it as a “ritual” that “has slipped through the veil” in the form of a lyric video, now viewable on YouTube.

In addition to Lander, Winterlvst features two members of Canadian melodic death metal act Blackguard: drummer Justine Ethier and keyboardist Jonathan Lefrançois-Leduc. Ex-Vehemal vocalist Martine Bourque also contributed to “Broken Lines,” according to Theprp.

Lander has worked with Blackguard in the past, featuring on their 2019 song “By My Hand” and collaborating with Ethier as fellow members of Karkaos, another melodic death metal outfit.

The group joins a line of Kittie's side projects which include Mercedes Lander's sludge outfit The White Swan.

Kittie will be embarking across North America this summer on their Legacy of Fire Tour, celebrating the band's 30th anniversary, starting June 6th. Accompanying them are supporting acts Kingdom of Giants and Gore.
