System of A Down's Serj Tankian has released a music video for the latest single, "Life's Revengeful Son," off of his solo EP Foundations. The video is directed by Ara Soudijan and showcases Tankian alongside his backing band, The F.C.C.
"Life’s Revengeful Son" weaves together a range of instruments, from acoustic and electric guitars to sweeping orchestration, creating an epic closing track rich with vivid imagery. Tankian sings, “The ultimate revolution will come when the clock’s hands collapse,” and adds, “Jesus seen in the streets, pulling a car axle in place of the cross.” Tankian has labelled his latest EP as "music of rebellion," and "Life's Revengeful Son" is no exception to that statement. The track was originally recorded prior to Tankian's 2010 Imperfect Harmonies album. As with a lot of Tankian's lyrics and messaging, the song is unfortunately timeless, with righteous anger from the perspective of the oppressed, interwoven in dynamic and eclectic instrumentation.
On November 1, Tankian is set to release a range of limited-edition "Foundations" EP vinyl variants, each with a unique colored design and an etched Side B. The "Foundations" vinyl collection features a red-and-black starburst edition available on Tankian's official webstore and an exclusive opaque purple edition sold only in U.S. record stores nationwide.
