As we creep towards the July 28th release of their 14th studio album, Truth Killer, Sevendust have graced us with their fourth single from the album – a melodic and bleak track called “Superficial Drug.”
Clocking in at over four and a half minutes, this deep reflection of lost love in a painful relationship is held together by tight guitar work that avoids the noodling and lughead riff tropes in favor of creating a haunting atmosphere as Lajon Witherspoon's infectious voice lets out a typically solid performance. Leaning into the band's alternative rock roots more heavily than other tracks, it still delivers a raucous and catchy chorus that will most certainly get the crowds singing along in their upcoming tours with Alter Bridge and Static-X.
