Rumors of the return of nu metal-centric music festival began to circulate during System of a Down's most recent slew of summer stadium shows in North America. Images of mascots and logos associated with Sick New World appeared on the side screens before System of a Down took the stage, fueling speculation that we were about to receive an update of the festival's status. The band headlined the only two iterations of the festival that have occurred, so their connection makes sense.
There still has not been an official confirmation of a revival or mention of the teases. However, the Sick New World website has a sign-up button where one can enter a phone number or email address to receive updates about the festival.
After the cancellation of the 2025 edition of Sick New World due to unforeseen circumstances, fans have been hopeful that the festival isn't dead forever. All signs seem to be pointing to a 2026 resurrection; let's hope that is the case.
