Trevor Dunn, who plays bass in Mr Bungle and Tomahawk, who are currently booked to play Sick New World, recently stated to The Vinyl Guide:
“I’m probably not supposed to talk about this, but it’s not happening. It’ll come out in the wash soon, but basically, [Sick New World] is not happening. We had a whole tour [...] built around that, which we can’t do now because financially it doesn’t make any sense, so yeah, that’s not happening.”
While Sick New World's first year sold out in 24 hours this year's still has every ticket tier in stock months after announce. The festival met some criticism for a confusing lineup that included bands as stylistically disparate as Metallica and The Flaming Lips, and a general edging away from the idea of a "nu-metal festival" that the first year's lineup so eagerly embraced.
